KingsWay Primary School
When the KingsWay School Trust Board presented us with their requirements for a complete new Primary School on their site in Silverdale, we were already conversant in the principles of modern learning environments, having worked with several schools transitioning into this style of teaching. However, it has never been Indesco’s philosophy to simply follow the current trend – and for this project we immersed ourselves completely in all the research and expert opinion, the views for and against, both in New Zealand and overseas. Similarly, the school’s project coordination group reflected deeply on what it means to be a provider of Christian Education in the 21st Century and how they could position themselves to be a leader in 21st Century (Christian) Education. They reached consensus in a design philosophy document that gave us scope to develop a school that will allow them to achieve this.
Taking on board the project coordination group’s design philosophy and working with carefully selected project partners we were able to develop a design that met all requirements and maximised the KingsWay School Trust Board’s budget. Our Intelligent Design + Construction process gave maximum opportunity for value engineering and creativity throughout each and every phase of the project.
Completed in time for the 2014 school year, the KingsWay Primary School comprises multifunctional modern learning environments, ample courtyards and an administration block providing a gymnasium, staffroom, cafeteria, meeting and resource rooms, reception, sick bay and multiple store rooms. The KingsWay School Trust Board are delighted with the end result and have received very positive feedback from the many visitors to their new school. We are delighted to have been part of giving the students and teachers that will bring this school to life such a great place to start.
